Dental Practice
Downtime Cost Calculator

How much does a day of IT downtime actually cost your practice? The answer is almost always higher than owners think. Plug in your numbers and see.

Your practice

Typical range: $250-$600 for general dentistry
Include crashes, slow systems, failed logins, outages — everything

What it costs you

Lost patient revenue
Staff time paid during downtime
Patient churn (est. 8% of directly lost)
Rescheduling & front-desk overhead
Estimated annual cost of IT downtime
That's of your in annual chair-hour capacity.
How we calculate this:

Lost revenue = downtime hours × chairs × revenue per chair-hour. Staff overtime assumes $35/hour loaded labor cost continues during the outage. Patient churn assumes an 8% dropout rate on patients whose appointments were disrupted (industry average for health services). Rescheduling overhead adds ~$120/hour in front-desk coordination. The total is a conservative estimate — in real ransomware events, we've seen the true cost run 3-5× higher due to forensics, legal, insurance deductibles, and brand damage.

Downtime is preventable — most of it.
